Biography:
Judge Dredd is a fictional law enforcement officer in the comic book series 2000 AD, published in the United Kingdom by Rebellion Developments. He was created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, making his debut in 1977. His full name is Joseph Dredd, though his origins are shrouded in secrecy, revealed to be a clone.
Dredd operates in Mega-City One, a vast, dystopian metropolis covering much of what was once the Eastern United States. He is a "Judge," empowered to act as police officer, judge, jury, and executioner. He is unwavering in his commitment to enforcing the law, often delivering swift and brutal justice.
Dredd's character is defined by his unyielding stoicism, dedication to the law, and lack of humor. He is rarely seen without his helmet, further emphasizing his impersonal and authoritarian persona. He is a symbol of order in a chaotic world, albeit a controversial one, raising questions about the nature of justice and power.
He has consistently featured in his titular comic as well as in spin-offs and crossover events. He has been adapted into multiple films and television shows.
